Boys place 3rd at Giants Invitational



The Sibley East varsity boys track team placed seventh among 16 teams during the Section 2A True Team Track Meet at United South Central on Tuesday, May 7.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran captured top honors in the meet.

Parker Burdorf captured top honors in the shot put event with a heave of 48’ 1 1/2.”

Second place winners for the Wolverines included Joe Ballalatak (800 meter run 2:05.45) and Parker Burdorf (discus 140’6”).

Aiden McCue placed third in the triple jump event.

Sibley East did not have any fourth place winners.

Fifth place winners for Sibley East consisted of Joe Ballalatak (400 meter dash), and Aidan McCue (long jump).

Sixth place winners for the Wolverines were Aidan McCue (300 meter hurdles), and Julio Alejandro (3200 meter run).

Seventh place winners for the Wolverines included Julio Alejandro (1600 meter run) and the Sibley East 4 X 800 meter relay team.

Eighth place winners for Sibley East consisted of Gavin Pomplun (800 meter run and 1600 meter run), Paul Taaffe (pole vault) and the Sibley East 4 X 200 meter relay team.

Giants Invitational

The Sibley East varsity boys track team placed third during the Giants Invitational held in Arlington on Friday afternoon, May 10.

First place winners for the Wolverines were Joe Ballalatak (800 meter run 2:03.98), Parker Burdorf (shot put 48’10 1/2”) and Aidan McCue (triple jump 43’3”).

Second place winners for Sibley East included Paul Taaffe (pole vault), Sibley East 4 X 200 meter relay team (Joe Ballalatak, Tyson Durham, Evan Garcia and Aidan McCue), Sibley East 4 X 400 meter relay team (Ben Arneson, Mausten Krueger, Joe Ballalatak and Gavin Pomplun) and Sibley East 4 X 800 meter relay team (Ben Arneson, Mausten Krueger, Tanner Johnson and Gavin Pomplun).

Third place winners for the Wolverines consisted of Gavin Pomplun (800 meter run) and Aidan McCue (300 meter hurdles).

Fourth place winners for Sibley East were Tyson Durham (100 meter dash and 200 meter dash), Aidan McCue (110 meter hurdles), and Monty Halquist (pole vault).

Fifth place winners for the Wolverines included Jonah Scherer (3200 meter run) and Parker Burdorf (discus).

Sixth place winners for Sibley East consisted of Monty Halquist (110 meter hurdles), Dawson Wibstad (pole vault) and Sibley East 4 X 100 meter relay team (Austin McCue, Dhari Al Sattam, Tanner Johnson and Dawson Wibstad).

Seventh place winners for the Wolverines were Ben Arneson (800 meter run) and Mausten Krueger (1600 meter run).

Sibley East will compete in the Sub-Section 2A North Track and Field Meet at Norwood Young America on Thursday afternoon, May 23.
